What’s in Jesus’ heart?

There’s only one place in the gospels we read about “what’s in Jesus’ heart.”

Why does it matter what’s in his heart? When we talk about the heart we’re not talking about emotions, but about who a person really is. Proverbs 4:23; “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Our heart is our motivation. Our heart is what defines us.

So, what defined Jesus’ heart? Matthew 11:28-30; “28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Did you catch that! “…for I am gentle and lowly in heart…” In this passage, God pulls down the veil of who he is and lets us see the core of who he is. Not generous, joyous, or exalted but…

Gentle means that he is meek and humble. He’s the most accepting person in all of the universe. His natural posture is not a condemning point finger, but of someone whose arms are opened wide.

Lowly means He’s accessible. He’s open to all sinners who wish to repent. All you have to do is open yourself up to Him and obey what He tells you to do.

He opens Himself specifically up to those who labor and are heavy laden. Those who take His yoke and cry for help.

With Jesus “Every sinner has a future and every saint has a past.”

How amazing is Jesus? Our being burdened and heavy laden actually qualifies us to come to Jesus. His mercy is there for all who would come to Him.
